Bees

                         Learning about bees

This week I have been learning about bees in my class 

In Minecraft education edition, we explore the world and find fun facts. We chat to npc’s and have tasks to do to learn about what bees do.

There is a farm where we get to build our own bee farm, and learn about cover crops: cover crops are a natural way of putting nutrients back into the soil

Beetopia is a place we can teleport to and learn all about the different bees: bumble bees, sweat bees, and mason bees, we find out the incredible things about them.

 There is a beehive we can teleport to and learn about what the bees do and how bees make honey. Bees have different jobs that contribute to the hive, we get to do an activity of making honey and get to wear an awesome suit!

Panikeke

 18.6.21     Term 2 Week 6

   Panikeke

I inspected the panikeke’s oily golden outer layer. It was lumpy and uneven and was not hard and did not seem to be crispy either, but seemed to have a thick layer on the outside. It seemed as if it wanted to be a ball but something went wrong and it was a misshaped ball instead. There were squiggly golden brown figures that looked like fried worms sticking out of the outer shell. It was like a potato growing roots from it. I felt my hands become oily from holding it and finally took a bite. 

Mmm I devoured it happily as I chewed on the outer layer and took in the savory taste of the inside. I could feel and taste the moist white cake texture. After finishing the bite, I found that it had purple strings that were as  thin as a strand of hair among the white inside but I now know it's just bits of banana. But the white inside tasted like a cake, it was almost like I was eating an actual cake!

The golden outer and creamy moist inside was certainly a flavourful treat and it had satisfied my taste buds.

Chop Suey

 10.6.21     Term 2  Week 6    

Chop Suey

The aroma of oyster oil, onions and garlic made my mouth water. I sat there desperately waiting for the beloved Chop suey to be in my mouth and taste it, and soon I got a cardboard bowl and a fork. I felt the warmth of the heated dish through the bowl, and looked in to inspect all the ingredients I could see.

Bits of vegetables were scattered among the vast amount of delicious brown noodles and rice. The pop of colour delighted me and I shifted my attention to the onions and garlic. The ghost white colour of the garlic blended in with the fluffy rice making it hard to see, and then I spotted the faint red onions among the dish. 

I stared at the entire meal through the white steam and finally with my fork I pecked at it and lifted up the noodles and began to take a bite. I slowly touched the chop suey with my tongue, feeling the heat and being careful not to burn my tongue. I started to blow on it and soon the chop suey that was in my spoon cooled and I took my first bite.

 
I savoured the scrumptious chop suey, taking in all the seasonings, thyme and oregano and mix of vegetables with the liquid black soy sauce in with the noodles. I started eating the rest of the meal picking up the rice too with the vegetables, and soon I was starting to empty the bowl. Mmm it was so good I wanted to have seconds, maybe even thirds.

Hello, my name is Chloe, my hobbies are drawing and reading and I love to do those in my spare time. My favourite kind of books are adventure books and diary books, but I like most books anyway. Personally I think I do well in all the subjects, but my favourite subject is art. Overall I am really excited to start blogging and hope you are too :)
